Liberal Wisdom: How To Avoid Being Raped

Karen chooses not to take liberal advice.

Karen chooses not to take liberal advice.

From NRO

Guns being Bad and gun-free zones being Good, the “Department of Public Safety” at the University of Colorado Springs has some advice for its students as to how they might protect themselves from rape.

  1. Be realistic about your ability to protect yourself.
  2. Your instinct may be to scream, go ahead!  It may startle your attacker and give you an opportunity to run away.
  3. Kick off your shoes if you have time and can’t run in them.
  4. Don’t take time to look back; just get away.
  5. If your life is in danger, passive resistance may be your best defense.
  6. Tell your attacker that you have a disease or are menstruating.
  7. Vomiting or urinating may also convince the attacker to leave you alone.
  8. Yelling, hitting or biting may give you a chance to escape, do it!
  9. Understand that some actions on your part might lead to more harm.
  10. Remember, every emergency situation is different.  Only you can decide which action is most appropriate.

Be realistic.

Pee.

Vomit.

Passive resistance.

These  brilliant liberal strategies are guaranteed to make you a victim, which, I suppose, is the entire point of liberalism: marinating in self-righteous victimhood.

Seraphic Secret believes that shooting your attacker in the heart is a much more effective means of avoiding rape.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

I’m going to disagree.  I’m of the opinion that that should be followed by a control shot to the head, just to be sure.
    It certainly reduces recidivism.

True. But a head-shot under such circumstances can be very difficult. Some suggest going for center mass, the chest. A much bigger target.

Karen and me both. This is what our very nice, very reasonable and intelligent shooting-instructor (not a hint of ‘mad-dog redneck’ about him;) advised my husband, son and I upon familiarizing us with our new Glock: “If you’re forced to shoot someone in self-defense – make certain you don’t just wound them – shoot-to-kill. It’s much-more safe for you.” I suppose the U of Colorado Springs would be apalled at that advice – and my family and I would ‘beg-to-differ’ with them. What? Uncharacteristic for a Downton Abbey viewing Jane Austen fan? Think-again liberal-Dems. I’d bet no-one following Robert’s blog conforms to the perjorative sterotype they would attribute to us.

      Nickie Clifford,
You shoot until there is no more threat. Whether the threat has departed the scene or this world makes no difference.

I received the same advice upon completing my pistol class – shoot to kill.  If you don’t, you’ll spend years in court defending yourself against someone who would have happily hurt/killed you without any remorse whatsoever.
Practice, practice, practice.  Thankfully our gun club has a practical pistol range where you can shoot at human-sized targets in a setting that is both safe and adrenaline-filled.  And women also need to practice carrying a concealed firearm in an easily accessible place. Waistband, under arm, purse holster – whatever suits you but you MUST know how to get the gun out and quickly.
As to the UofCO – idiots. Call boxes…really?  Because a woman can outrun someone hopped up on their own adrenaline plus whatever other chemical substances they have ingested who is hell bent on causing harm to someone; the thrill of their crime filling them with energy, stamina and strength.  Passive resistance…really?  Because everything I’ve ever read says FIGHT – and fight hard.  It is all about control with these mosters and if they find you difficult to control, they may just leave you alone. Though I don’t subscribe to that theory – if they want to harm you, no amount of fight or lack thereof will dissuade them.
Shoot them – and kill them.  It is the only logical solution.
Only #10 makes any kind of sense yet UofCO has removed that choice from the women on their campus.

    Two additional suggestions:

    – Learn  Krav Maga  (practical self-defense fighting art, developed in Israel)

    – Get a large protective dog,
(i.e.,  a shepherd, doberman, labrador retriever, malamut, etc.)
(this is an especially good deterrent against Muslim would-be rapists).
Dogs, in additional to being instinctively loyal, are blessed with a complete immunity to pc insanity, and total disregard for civil liberties leniencies …

I’ve only had a few lessons in Krav Maga, but it is good stuff.  Very practically-oriented.

Another good one is judo or ju-jitsu.  Not much for offense, but great for defense.  The beauty of joint locks is that they don’t depend on weight or strength; I’ve put 200-lb guys on the ground before no problem.  Aikido is good too, but because it has a less practical focus it takes longer for the practitioner to become truly effective.
I’ve been doing martial arts for years; to keep fit as well as to learn self-defense.  It’s a great way to kill those two birds with one stone, and knowing that you can defend yourself at need is a wonderful confidence-booster as well.

Whether it was Stalin, Mao or Adolph, whether it be communist or fascist, governments always know they can have more power if the citizens are trained to be passive. Gun control is just the most obvious form of passivity. Global warming is another – just sit back and let the experts determine how you will live your life.

And there are plenty of people (give me Obamacare please) that are happy to turn over their lives to the government.

On the radio a guy was talking about driving by a construction site and how it was the ultimate example of what this country is about – someone putting their money at risk for the reward of a successful business. Sadly, I think in the age of Obama this idea is lost on a vast swath of people that just want more and more from the government. Why oh why can’t the government stop us from failing. And then do away with the law of gravity so we don’t get hurt when we trip.

You were SO NOT PC just now! We don’t say Global Warming anymore (cuz the globe hasn’t warmed!) Now we say “Climate Change” so we can blame Hurricane Sandy on Republicans and raise taxes when it snows!

Liberals seem to think that vomiting or urinating will make the victim look “less appealing” to the rapist.  Perhaps, but rape isn’t about sex. It’s about violence, control and the humiliation of another human being. Both of those acts might play right into the rapist’s goals.

One of my daughters will be visiting this weekend. I have been trying to convince her that it is a good idea to have a gun and know how to use it as she lives in Tucson and by herself. She told me the other day that maybe it is a good idea. My other two daughters have also been told this but it is unnecessary in the case of the oldest as she is an FBI agent and is always armed. Women need to know about guns and should have one.

Michael – my ideal female FBI agent is Sandra Bullock’s character in Miss Congeniality.

…although maybe my “dream woman” doesn’t have to snort when she laughs ;-)

Remember the self defense demo she gave at the end to the women?
