“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”
— Sir Winston Churchill
Welcome to the new and improved Egypt—via the Muslim Brotherhood.
Mohamed Ghanem, one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, calls Egypt to stop pumping gas to Israel and prepare the Egyptian army for a war with it’s eastern neighbor.
Speaking with Iranian television station Al-Alam, Mohamed Ghanem blamed Israel for supporting Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Ghanem also said that the Egyptian police and army won’t be able to stop the Muslim Brotherhood movement.
Full story here.
The Egyptian military has received billions in aid from America but the army, air force and navy are in shambles. Their equipment is rusting, corruption is endemic in the officer corps, and most soldiers don’t have a decent supply of ammunition because most of it gets siphoned off into the black market. The Egyptians couldn’t fight a six-hour war against Israel much less a six day war. The MB is just revving their base and no doubt, with Iranian proxies Hamas and Hizbullah, the terrorist war against Israel/Jews will only intensify.
Here’s what to expect: In the name of democracy and real politik Obama will accept the Muslim Brotherhood’s presence in a new government coalition headed by Iranian shill turned MB shill Mohammed El Baradei. But only—to show how tough he is—in exchange for some cosmetic changes in the MB’s genocidal and heartfelt language. The MB, whose roots are in Nazism, will hem and haw, pretend they have moderated their promise to destroy Israel and every Jew on the face of the earth—not to mention the Coptic Christian minority in Egypt—and then, before you know it, Egypt will be transformed into a Sunni Islamic theocracy modeled on Shia Iran, and funded by 2 billion in yearly American aid.
Isn’t it great that we have a POTUS who really, really understands the Muslim world.
In fact, Obama is poised to repeat Jimmy Carter’s catastrophic handling of Iran in 1978-79. And this makes perfect sense, for Obama is Carter redux, but on an even grander and more inept level. Hard to accomplish, but what do you expect when you take a leftist community organizer and elevate him to the most powerful executive position in the world.
Pop Quiz: What should America do?
Answer: Make it quite clear that the presence of the Muslim Brotherhood, any and all jihadist gangs, in a new Egyptian government coalition is unacceptable and will result in the immediate suspension of all American aid.
It is that simple, and that complicated.
Meanwhile, Israel has been hit by Grad rockets from Gaza.
And here we go in the new Tunisia: A synagogue torched.
Seraphic Secret will be without an internet connection for most of the day. A home improvement project is in progress at Casa Avrech that will interrupt service. Back tomorrow. We hope.

of course…cut off all aid to Egypt if the brotherhood takes over. But if the ultra-nationalist Zionist party takes over in Israel, keep pumping millions there, no questions asked. it’s not like they’re killing palestinians, or anything. hypocritical fools, the lot of you. i love it that you guys take criticism like a bunch of children, goes to show a lot about the kind of person that talks this kind of crap.

The Muslim Brotherhood is the father of al Queda. Many of the founding members of al Queda started in Egyptian prisons under Nassar and Sadat.
I read that for many years our state department would urge Mubarak to loosen his grip and he would use the threat of the MB to quell his critics.
Our relationship with Egypt has always been precarious.
I am reminded when someone asked Franlkin Roosevelt about the our relationship with a dictator of Nicaragua Roosevelt replied:
“He may be a son of a bitch, but he’s our son of a bitch”.
Carter, with all his flaws, tried to run diplomatic relations with a moral force – and of course, look where it got him.
Not supporting the Shah when he most needed it got is the current regime. And as the Left despised the Shah and his secret police, they seem to be quiet on something far worse that took his place.
We insist on free elections for the Palestinians and they select HAMAS.
This is the dilemma of conducting our foreign policy.

Except it won’t be smuggling. It will be above and out-in-the-open trade with Hamas. It will be an open air bazaar with anything Hamas wants, Hamas gets. I just hope the U.S. cuts off any aid but then that might be hoping for too much from Obama and company.

I had read the article posted and then, turned to the link, and from there to the comments. Seems a number of comments suggest the Brotherhood boyz are just a bunch of peaceful religious lads.
Elsewhere, though they are very clear what they believe in:
“Khaled Hamza, editor of the Muslim Brotherhood’s official website, considered a voice of “moderation” within the party:
What about relations with Israel? What would the Brotherhood do regarding the situation between Israel and Palestine?
We think Israel is an occupation force and is not fair to the Palestinians. We do not believe in negotiation with Israel. As the Muslim Brotherhood, we must resist all this. They are an occupation force and we must resist this. Did you see what they do in Gaza, on the flotilla? Israel is a very dangerous force and we must resist. Resistance is the only way, negotiation is not useful at all.
So would the Muslim Brotherhood, if in a position of government, help groups like Hamas?
Yes, sure.
Do you recognize Israel as a state?
No.”

I wish the U.S. had the power to demand the Muslim Brotherhood stop the fomenting of revolution. My 15 year-old son asked last night what Ronald Reagan would’ve done — I told him they never would have done this if Ronald Reagan was president. More bad actors are going to seize their opportunities while Jimmy Carter Jr. is the world’s moral authority. It’s amazing how quickly we can slide into irrelevance. I fear for Israel.
