O’ Jerusalem

Tuesday night and Wednesday are Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day. Here’s a neat little video that summarizes 4,000 years of Jerusalem and Jewish history in five minutes.

Note that Arab Muslims are no more than a blip on the historical screen and the faux Palestinians have roots in Jerusalem that are as shallow and anti-historical as their nationalism which is but a strategic step towards establishing not a Palestinian state but a 7th century Caliphate.

Efrat, home to many friends and relatives, is raising funds to build a Radiology Center in the Efrat Emergency Medical Center.

Our dear friend David Bogner, AKA Treppenwitz will be putting his butt on the line—literally—for this most worthy of causes.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Robert: You’ve spoken about this issue in the past and I wonder if you’ve seen this article:

Hi — This is a general comment — not specifically about Jerusalem. I am a big seraphic press fan. I know that every Friday you do a shoe post for women (or is it for women?) – perhaps you could include the following video which is not about shoes, but is about women and Friday

David, shouldn’t that read “Thanks… from my bottom”? :-)

While the origin of the name Jerusalem is uncertain, some Jewish scholars believe it is a combination of the word Yerusha and Salem, meaning God will be revealed here

The problem with not voting for candidates that do not support Israel is that they all claim to support Israel. You can sit in a church run by a rabid anti-Semite for 20 years and be a big fan of Calypso Louie and there will still be people that take what you say at face value. And the media will protect you by not asking any embarrassing questions about any of your slimy anti-Semetic friends (cough Bill Ayers and his hateful wife cough).

This letter packs a punch – it never ceases to inspire and invigorate me anew when I am in need. I thought that perhaps it was befitting to share on the eve of Yom Yerushalayim:
“A Letter to the World from Jerusalem
by Eliezer ben Yisrael (Stanley Goldfoot)
I am not a creature from another planet, as you seem to believe. I am a Jerusalemite-like yourselves, a man of flesh and blood. I am a citizen of my city, an integral part of my people. I have a few things to get off my chest. Because I am not a diplomat, I do not have to mince words. I do not have to please you or even persuade you. I owe you nothing. You did not build this city, you did not live in it, you did not defend it when they came to destroy it.
And we will be darned if we will let you take it away. There was a Jerusalem before there was a New York. When Berlin, Moscow, London, and Paris were miasmal forest and swamp, there was a thriving Jewish community here. It gave something to the world which you nations have rejected ever since you established yourselves- a humane moral code.
Here the prophets walked, their words flashing like forked lightning.
Here a people who wanted nothing more than to be left alone, fought off waves of heathen would-be conquerors, bled and died on the battlements, hurled themselves into the flames of their burning Temple rather than surrender, and when finally overwhelmed by sheer numbers and led away into captivity, swore that before they forgot Jerusalem, they would see their tongues cleave to their palates, their right arms wither…”
I felt bad posting the whole thing so here’s a link to read the rest:

I’m pressed for time, so I’ll have to watch the video at a later time, but I just wanted to share this link with you. In another post, someone posed the question whether being pro-Israel was a valid litmus test for American voters. Speaking as a non-Jew, I must say it certainly is for me. As I see it, voting for a candidate who isn’t pro-Israel is akin to voting for someone who isn’t pro-America … I simply couldn’t do it. The aforementioned link:

“Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah … issued a religious edict on his website whereby suicide attacks are not only legitimate but are a must for every Muslim.”
Suicide (attack) a must for EVERY muslim? Hmmm. All I would ask is that they practice at home first.
I’ll be sure to return to watch the Jerusalem video and make a donation to your friend’s Radiology Center.
