Obama’s Democrats: Israel Betrayed

Even CNN cannot cover for Obama and the Democrats’ new party platform in regard to Israel.

The Democrats have stripped vital pro-Israel language from their 2012 platform.

According to the new document, Israel is no longer America’s “strongest ally in the region.” The world according to Obama will, no doubt, move whatever tyranny is run by the Muslim Brotherhood to that slot.

Here is the paragraph missing from the new platform. Let’s analyze. Pay special attention to the sections in bold:

The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist, and abides by past agreements. Sustained American leadership for peace and security will require patient efforts and the personal commitment of the President of the United States. The creation of a Palestinian state through final status negotiations, together with an international compensation mechanism, should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel. All understand that it is unrealistic to expect the outcome of final status negotiations to be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949. Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.

The United States should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism.

Judging by Obama’s support for the Muslim Brotherhood Seraphic Secret views the omission about isolating Hamas as preparation for recognizing the Jew-hating terrorist organization.

...should resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees by allowing them to settle there, rather than in Israel.

Deleting this clause legitimizes the Arab strategy of flooding Israel with some 4 million hostile Arabs who will destroy the Jewish state through demographics.

… All understand that it is unrealistic to expect the outcome of final status negotiations to be a full and complete return to the armistice lines of 1949.

Well, getting rid of this language is what Obama’s all about. He’s already demanded that Israel begin negotiations at the 1949 armistice lines.

Jerusalem is and will remain the capital of Israel.

In short, the new position is that the entire city of Jerusalem is up for grabs.

Even famed lawyer Alan Dershowitz — we went to the same high school, Brooklyn Talmudical Academy — an Obama supporter, is troubled by the new language of the Democrat platform. He told the Daily Caller:

“I think one shouldn’t give too much weight to platform pronouncements, but in this case, I think the omissions are troubling — particularly the omission about the Palestinian refugee issue and Hamas are, I think, deeply troubling.”

Make no mistake about it, this perfidious Democrat platform was carefully vetted by several Democrat committees. It is not the work of Democrat extremists. It is mainstream Democrat ideology. Just as mainstream as taxpayer-funded birth control, and taxpayer-funded abortions, including third trimester abortions.

And when 2016 rolls around Seraphic Secret guarantees that Democrat language supporting Israel will be further weakened, if not invisible. This Democrat party platform aligns perfectly with how Obama has mistreated Israel, and reflects the growing hostility of the Democrat party to the Jewish state.

Of course, the 2012 Democrat platform also deletes all references to G-d.

That’s because, like all leftist movements, the state and its beloved leader are G-d.

UPDATE: The Dems just reinstated G-d and Jerusalem with a minority vote. Always nice to see big government advocates get slapped down by their own big government.

Tyranny always devours its offspring.

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

Abigail, I am so happy to see that you have pointed out the obvious – how can American Jews stomach supporting Barack Obama with his obvious disdain for Israel?  I haven’t felt it my place – being neither Jewish nor Israeli – to mention this on Robert’s blog (I was concerned with whether this would be improper).  However, this disconnect has deeply perplexed me.  Even if I were a liberal (don’t tell my mother I even suggested that!) – the Obama administration’s transparent anti-semitic, anti-Israeli bent would be clear to me.  Why is this matter of obvious self-interest not apparent to them??  Most conservatives – from ”Whole Foods” Republicans like me and my family – to uber-fundamentalist blue-collar Republicans – can easily detect this treachery toward Israel.  What is preventing the American Jewish population from comprehending this?

Wow. Much, much more information and cogent analysis here on this blog than is available from “mainstream” media reports.

How is this possible? As far as I know, you didn’t go to journalism school. Everybody knows that you’re only qualified to pontificate on the truth and reality of an issue after two years of journalism school.

Of course, you only need a two-year, community college associate degree to be a fact-checker, I gather.

Thanks for equipping us with the facts we can carry into battle with ideological opponents we clash with at work and in the neighborhood.

I realize that this is not literally the topic you addressed but, I think it’s appropriate to the subject at hand.

Somebody please make a funny viral video spoofing/ mocking/ or otherwise emphasizing what happened when the Democrat Convention “changed” their Party Platform to include (or NOT include) G-d and Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel…I suspect that maybe… a movie producer…. or a writer… might know someone who could easily make a really funny video making fun of the vote - That Arab American screaming NO! emphasized by similar Arabs “blowing up” or protesting… - The “NO” “YES” battle parodying anything from the Sharks and the Jets to “1776″ John Adams “Vote Yes for Independency”- The “In the opnion of the Chair, 2/3 voted in the affirmative; the motion is adopted; and the Platform has been amended…” when that was clearly not the case – being contrasted with the Dems cries of “there is NO Voter Fraud” when discussing Voter ID…There are so many creative possibilities that could catch the attention of the world!(Although, admittedly, SNL could not have written a better parody than what actually happened…)

It was most disappointing watching Dershowitz give his interview to Fox news. Even as he acknowledged the “deeply troubling” nature of the omissions from the Democrats’ party platform, he continued to defend Barack Obama, saying his party’s platform wasn’t a reflection of his own views, that Obama was at odds with members of his own administration who endorsed a weakening of ties with Israel. What baloney, what foolishness. Does Dershowitz not recall the speech given at AIPAC in which Obama endorsed, himself, a return the pre-1967 borders? Does he forget the recent leaking of intelligence by the Obama administration concerning the existence of Israeli bases in Azerbajan, a blatant betrayal of Israel? And yet Dershowitz continues to believe (and expects us to believe) that Barack Obama is a “friend” to Israel? I will never, ever understand the mindset of American Jews who refuse to come to terms with the ugly truth of this presidency, a denial so very detrimental to both Israel and the US in the long term.

    Robert,

The perfidious anti-Israeli, anti-semitic stance of the Obama administration has become more glaringly apparent as time has gone on (although it was very obvious to me from the get-go).  Isn’t it amazing that the self-designated “humanitarian” Democratic party is eager to throw our staunch allies the Israelis to the wolves – whereas the purported (by the Democrats) party of “throw Grandma off-the-cliff” Republicans fully intend to stand with Israel to the end.  I posit that the issue of the United States continuing support of Israel is not one of politics – but rather, MORALITY.  It’s plain to me that conservatives as a whole (O.K. not those wacky Libertarians) view the matter in this manner – “We” (the U.S.) are a good and just people.  Therefore, it is our moral obligation to support and defend this heroic little nation that rose from the ashes of the Holocaust.  It would be a moral injustice to allow them to be obliterated.  Conversely, from the supposedly “empathetic” Democrats – we are seeing a not-so-thinly-veiled tone of snide anti-semitism.  With a ”side” of stab-them-in-the-back (I am truly nauseated by the disrespectful manner in which Obama treats Benjamin Netanyahu).  On this basis alone – it should be self-evident who deserves our faith and trust in the form of a vote.

I am sure you heard the results of that “vote” that your mayor (I know you didn’t vote for him!) conducted today. It was hilarious – Hugh Hewitt kept playing it over and over.
But as someone commented today it shows how hollow the Democratic position is becoming.

They do recognize Jerusalem as the capital. How can someone not like the post. The factual truth, whatever the context, is what it is. Not to be liked or disliked but modified and explained.

The news this morning was they took God and Jerusalem out of the platform so Obama supposedly had them change it. When I saw the mayor of LA with the deer in the headlights look when the voice vote did not give 2/3 to make the changes I had to laugh.

Bob Beckel said the Obama campaign controlled the platform and couldn’t understand the thinking. Of course he never mentioned the Michigan delegates (undoubtedly led by those from Dearborn) were the ones pushing for the deletions. Fox showed the Arab delegates from MI screaming no when Villagarosa asked for a voice vote.

Funny how the Hamas language wasn’t added back in. I guess Obama knew he could only go so far and hoped he would get all the glory for putting God and Jerusalem back.

Obama is like the Wizard of Oz — he’s trying to control everything and everyone while maintaining his grandeur. Prevaricating, saying one thing one day, and the opposite the next. Pandering to one interest group today and throwing them under the bus to please another when the political wind shifts. But just like in the movie the charade is unraveling. I can picture Obama frantically turning the controls, echoing the diminished Wizard imploring,“Don’t pay attention to that man behind the curtain.”

    Barry, the jig is up.

if Obama is such a good friend of Israel and “has our back ” then why has he not provided Israel with the bunker busters, and why has he not rebuked statements recently made by General Dempsey???

Words are cheap. Actions are hard.

Obama thinks everything can be solved with a speech.
