Last night President Obama delivered the first major speech of his reelection campaign. There is no state of the union. As always, there is only the narcissist-in-charge and his free-spending empress—Michelle was wearing a $2,400 Barbara Tfank dress.
Within Obama’s relentless demagoguery about fairness there is an ugly Stalinist theme of class warfare. Stalin played this card in order to liquidate millions of Kulaks, those who opposed collectivization. Obama wishes to liquidate the capital of hard-working Americans in order to establish a utopian reign of equality and fairness.
Of course it’s Obama and his fellow millionaire Socialists who decide what’s fair and what’s equal.
Obama’s populism is nothing but a racket. An opportunity for big government hustlers, opportunists and their cronies to promise instant prosperity to the American middle class. But inevitably, Obama’s programs will leave America materially and spiritually depleted, dependant on government entitlements, which will, as planned, lead to more voters for the Democrat party. Because once entitlements are handed out, they become like heroin, a degrading habit. Look at Greece, a country of rioting addicts.
Obama’s vision of America is un-American. He and the Democrats yearn for a Europe that is imploding before our very eyes.
Obama’s populism masks a deep contempt for the free market that is the foundation for American freedom and prosperity. He does not understand, or chooses not to understand that without free markets there is only a government bureaucrat deciding how to spend your hard-earned money.
Here’s what I have learned as an American Jew, a child of impoverished immigrants who fled the corrupt governments of Europe and their pogroms: There is no substitute for hard work and self-discipline. Government cannot substitute for the traditional family. And government is not a deity that should ever be worshipped or blindly obeyed.
As Eric Hoffer wrote:
Only here, in America, were the common folk of the Old World given a chance to show what they could do on their own, without a master to push and order them about.
Hoffer recognized the complimentary fanaticism of the Nazis and the Communists. Both ideologies were devoted to transformational visions, a glorious future in which the devils were an essential scapegoat: Jews, capitalists, the bourgeoisie, all were to be exterminated in the name of a better future, a more harmonious society.
Obama’s devils are “the wealthy.”
Let us stipulate that we do not believe that Obama yearns for a great purge, a Stalinist genocide. He is, in fact, just a typical post-modern Democrat, which is to say, a hard-core leftist/progressive/socialist.
But make no mistake about it, Obama relies on the same rhetoric as the totalitarian monsters, the same propaganda and simple-minded imagery—Warren Buffet’s secretary all cozy with Michelle—in support of an unyielding devotion to a utopian vision of change that can only lead to a tearing apart of the very social fabric that has made America exceptional.
Mitch Daniels’ response to Obama is brilliant. The GOP are common sense adults responding to pre-adolescent, wishful thinking Democrats.
And even the AP, a left-leaning organization, did a fact check on last night’s speech and blasts Obama.
