Are abortion laws more conservative in America or in Western Europe? Would a pregnant woman seeking an abortion have an easier time getting one in Texas or in…Germany? The answers, as talk show host Elisha Krauss explains, may just change how you think about America’s abortion laws.

Good points. I agree with you completely.
Thank you. That socialist Sweden would have more restrictive policies and laws with regards to abortion than the U.S. was rather surprising.
It’s doubtful we’ll be hearing progressives point to Europe as an example to follow on this one.
So, are we to take away that Europe is more moral than America? My initial response was as much. However, I recalled that I’ve often heard persons say that there are just too many people in America. And, we note that any number of European nations are not or just barely replenishing their population. Consequently, I would suggest that population trends is more of a factor than morals, although I don’t exclude it entirely.
A follow-up study by Prager U. would make for an interesting read.
The notion that there are too many people in the USA is utterly ludicrous. Just a passing glance at “flyover country” makes that clear. To an immigrant from Holland such as myself it’s obvious anywhere outside NYC. An interesting question is: what are the motivations of the people who make this bizarre claim?
Neil Smith once observed that the population of the world fits in Rhode Island (standing room only); “in Connecticut they could sit down”.
It’s true that a lot of western european countries have a birth rate below replenishment level. This sort of thing tends to be symptomatic of statist societies, where individuals are not valued and can clearly feel it.
Any insights as to why there might be these misconceptions, not held by progressives alone I would imagine, concerning abortion policies and laws of European nations?
Great question. I’ll have to think about that. The first reaction is that western Europe has a reputation (perception) as being rather liberal.
The reality isn’t quite so straightforward, as one can discover when attempting to exercise free speech. And we won’t even get into such things as self defense…
