Let’s face it, under the Community Organizer, the U.S. seems to be disintegrating.
The implosion of American foreign policy in the Middle East is truly frightening. Iran is poised to spread its Islamist fascist hegemony in the vacuum created by Obama’s willful withdrawal from the world stage, while a bloody caliphate takes shape across parts of Iraq and Syria.
The endless parade of scandals and lies testifies to the imperial aspirations of Obama and his lawless bureaucrats—the IRS are nothing less than gangsters—who sneer with contempt at the American people.
The economy is in shambles, shrinking at a dangerous 2.9%. The jobless rate is at historic levels. U.S. debt is over $17 trillion. There are more Americans on food stamps than the population of Spain. Our border with Mexico is a Marxist wet dream. The VA is an abbatoir. Russia just snatched Crimea from the Ukraine. And Obama wants more funding for rebel Islamist groups in Syria, who are about as trustworthy as, well, the IRS.
But there is hope.
And Seraphic Secret has found it in a little Colorado restaurant.
While establishments around the country are setting up gun-free zones, one Colorado restaurant is welcoming customers who are packing – and they’re waited on by armed servers.
The restaurant’s name: Shooters Grill, located in the gun-friendly town of Rifle.
Waitress Ashlee Saenz serves customers with a loaded Ruger .357 Blackhawk handgun holstered to her leg, Old West-style, and she knows how to use it, she told the Post Independent.
“Guns are welcome on premises,” a sign on Shooter’s front door says. “Please keep all weapons holstered, unless the need arises. In such cases, judicious marksmanship is appreciated.”
Shooters owner Lauren Boebert called herself a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
“We encourage it, and the customers love that they can come here and express their rights,” Boebert told the Post. “This country was founded on our freedom. People can come in carrying their gun, and they can pray over their food.”
Talk about a small world! My parents lived about 10 miles from Rifle for many years. My mother was the best pistol shot in the family, but my father was far and away the best free style rifle shot I have ever seen.
OK, this might not be the exact best place, but here goes. Left a comment on this blog, long ago, re: a short story by Harry Turtledove. Dang, I found it! Gandhi versus the Nazis:
Thought you might be interested. Upon re-reading, IMHO (in my humble opinion) it’s about the best thing he’s ever written. (Haven’t read all his work.) Even though it is … well, all too plausible. Not for nothing does Turtledove has some kind of history Ph.D.
Easiest way to save to your computer is to click the underlined blue “here.” When the story pops up, click Ctrl-S and the PDF file will download.
Thanks!
Note that Gandhi wasn’t quite the pacifist that some well known quotes, such as the one on that article, make him seem. Consider these two:
“Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.” — Mohandas K. Gandhi, An Autobiography, p. 446
“I do believe that where there is a choice only between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence.” — Mohandas K. Gandhi, Young India, August 11, 1920 from Fischer, Louis ed.,The Essential Gandhi, 1962. pp. 156-57.
Robert: You might appreciate this small story. I got back from WV to help bury my last uncle. I was talking with my cousin, my age less than a month – but she grew up on a family farm – a wonderful place to grow up. (as an aside as an 8 year old – coming back to school now in the 3rd grade, her teacher asked the students to write an essay on what they did over the summer – Sara’s was entitled “My Horse, My Gun, and My Jeep”. The teacher thought she had a vivid imagination until my aunt had to come in and verify the truth).
Anywho (to quote a popular screenwriter) years later her son is at West Point. The New Jersey SWAT Team came to teach them shooting in an urban environment.
When the lesson was over Sara’s son did exceptionally well, and when asked where he learned, he replied “My mama taught me!”
I would like to know where one can find such women these days.
We “hanger” at Rifle airport when “the big guy” goes to Aspen. Will do my best to support the staff at Shooters Grill in the future. regards, Alemaster

Evidently Rifle, CO is one such place.
