The Seventh Annual Ariel Avrech ZT’L Yahrtzeit Lecture
will take place this coming Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 10 AM at the Young Israel of Century City, followed by brunch.

Young Israel of Century City
9317 West Pico Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90035

We are pleased to announce that we have engaged Dennis Prager, author, columnist and radio host—internationally celebrated for his wit and wisdom—as our speaker.

The title of Dennis Prager’s lecture is: “Happiness is a Mitzvah, Not an Emotion.”

Dennis is widely sought after by television shows for his opinions. He’s appeared on Larry King Live, Hardball, Hannity’s America, CBS Evening News, The Today Show and many others.

Dennis is the author of several best sellers including the seminal work on anti-Semitism, Why the Jews, co-written with Joseph Telushkin. Happiness Is A Serious Problem, Think A Second Time, and The Nine Questions People Ask About Judaism, also co-written with Joseph Telushkin.

More important to us is a personal connection. Ariel was an enthusiastic fan of Dennis’ radio show. During our son’s long illness, when he was confined at home and in the hospital, Ariel listened to Dennis on a regular basis and commented: “There’s a lot of Torah in what Dennis says.”

We look forward to seeing all our friends and relatives at the lecture.

There is no better way of honoring Ariel’s memory than by participating in this lecture series.

May Ariel’s neshama have an aliyah.

The lecture and brunch are courtesy of the Avrech Family and Friends.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

I hope that you, the Avrech family, and the attendees of the annual Ariel Avrech z”l Yahrzeit Lecture were well enlightened today by Dennis Prager’s words. No doubt Ariel’s neshama was close at hand in the shul as you gathered there. May Ariel continue to be remembered as pure and all good…

Sincere best wishes to Mishpocha Avrech from Canada – may Ariel’s memory continue to be a blessing – somehow, sometime, I am going to be in LA and attend the lecture in person.

Prager is great and I hope he’s fully recovered from his sciatica.
This is such a tremendous way to keep Ariel’s memory alive. Our thoughts will be with you and Karen and the rest of your family.

Dennis Prager? I’m that much more sorry to miss it. Looking forward to a transcript.
Is there some remembrance for Ariel that would be appropriate for a non-Jew like myself?
