When two people share the same goals, they can disagree – even strongly disagree – and still have a productive discussion about how to reach those shared objectives. As comedian and author Owen Benjamin explains, the problem with America today is we no longer share the same goals, and that’s tearing us apart.

Mass Shootings: What America Can Learn From Israel

The after-shooting ritual is in full bloom. One side screams at the other—and no one hears anything.
Before getting to the article about Israel and the value of the armed citizen, I want to point out that asking the government to solve the problem of mass shootings is both impractical and dangerously utopian.
The problem is not weapons.
The problem is human evil.
And human evil cannot be legislated away.
The best that we can do is to defend against it.
Here are my suggestions:

Jew Without a Gun: 25 Years Ago, the LA Riots

This coming Saturday marks the 25the anniversary of the Los Angeles Riots.
Thus, I am republishing my three-part series about the riots of 1992 in which Karen and I and the children were trapped for several frightening hours. We were unarmed, helpless save for our wits. The police were conspicuously absent and the bad guys—frequently armed with heavy weapons—owned the streets.
It was a defining moment in my life.
I’m reposting this series as a cautionary tale because when IslamoNazis go on murderous rampages the left invariably blames the actions of evil men on hunks of steel, piously calling for ever more gun laws. The ultimate aim, of course, is to disarm law-abiding American citizens through mass gun confiscations.
If the Democrat party’s vision is fulfilled all of America will become defenseless, as were we, a quarter century ago.

Girl Without a Gun: Pacifist Stalked, Reality Intrudes

I am republishing this true life story from 2007 for the same reason I republished Jew Without a Gun, my nightmarish report of being trapped with my family, unarmed and defenseless, in the 1992 L.A. Riots.
This is another cautionary tale—not about the riots—but about one frightened and helpless young woman who was being stalked by an ex-boyfriend. I met her in a gun shop where she, a fragile, naive pacifist reluctantly landed because there was nowhere else to turn. There was no choice for this young woman but seek to arm herself.
Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party have made it clear that they want to repeal the Second Amendment. They seek to disarm law-abiding American citizens, not, as they claim, to reduce crime, but in order to solidify their power.

Jew Without a Gun
Because of the Orlando massacre, I am republishing my three-part series about the Los Angeles Riots of 1992 in which Karen and I and the children were trapped for several frightening hours. We were unarmed, helpless save for our wits. The police were conspicuously absent and the bad guys—frequently armed with heavy weapons—owned the streets.

If the Democrat party’s vision is fulfilled all of America will become like those defenseless men and women in Pulse: Gays without guns.

Part One
Hollywood is Burning
Hollywood is on fire.
Karen and I lock every door in the house, shut tight the windows. We move through the house switching off all the lights.
Gazing from our bedroom window we watch orange flames lick at the darkness, pillars of black smoke climb into the sky. We can actually smell the acrid odor of burning rubber.
“Look how close they are,” says Karen.
“Just past La Cienega. Maybe eight blocks away.”
Karen gives me a long penetrating gaze:
“What do we do if they come here?”
My mind is racing away. The truth is we are defenseless. Unless I get crazy inventive like Dustin Hoffman in Straw Dogs.
“After this is all over,” I vow, “I’m going to buy a pistol.”
Karen says: “How about a shotgun?”
