Hollywood loves handing out awards.
Once upon a time, Oscar was the only game in town. Then the Emmy appeared. Okay, I get it. Awards for movies. Awards for television. Makes sense. But now we are engulfed in an orgy of award ceremonies that render meaningless the achievement an award is supposed to signify.
In the 1960s, Hollywood embraced political action in a big way. Ever since, we have seen the intersection of politics and Hollywood celebrity that is unprecedented. Hollywood knows it has the power to change hearts and minds, and post-modern Democrats have embraced the role of shameless one-party propagandists with passion.
This intellectual and artistic corruption is far worse than the Communist model where the arts were controlled by a ruthless political apparatus. The Hollywood elite have volunteered as propagandists for the Democrat party.
Tragically Steven Spielberg, a fine director, but a man who lacks elementary wisdom, has carried the Hollywood-Democrat alliance a step further with, naturally, an award ceremony.
