Libya’s Dogs of War

The provisional Libyan government has refused to deport Abdel-Baset al-Megrahi, the man convicted of the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. There were 270 fatalities, most of them Americans.

Scotland released Megrahi on faux compassionate grounds that he only had two months to live. Unfortunately, Seraphic Secret has seen cancer and its symptoms up close and personal. One look at Megrahi told us that this man was far from death’s door. Besides, true compassion should have been extended to the memory of the dead and their survivors by executing Megrahi, but the Europeans are way too civilized for captal punishment.

In fact, Great Britain made a deal for Libyan oil—truly, blood for oil.

Well, it’s two years later, Megrahi’s still alive, Ghaddafi is on the run, America has spent about a billion dollars helping the Libyan rebels and in response to our extradition request the noble Libyan rebels have told us to take a flying leap.

Here’s what’s going on.

1. Ghaddafi agitated for Megrahi’s release because Libya is not so much a country but a loose collection of feuding tribes. Megrahi belongs to one of Libya’s most powerful and influential tribes whose support was crucial for Ghaddafi’s regime.

2. The rebels want to establish ties with pro-Gaddhafi tribe hence solidifying their powerbase. They know that America is dealing with a weak hand—Leading-From-Behind- Obam—thus they can afford to spit on the graves of the dead.

3. President Ronald Reagan characterized Ghaddafi as the mad dog of the mideast. Seraphic Secret is delighted to see the Ghaddafi rule crumble. But we have no illusions about the Libyan rebels. They have already shown their true colors by shipping weapons to Hamas occupied Gaza.

4. Because killing Jews will emerge as the Arab Spring’s most lasting testament.

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

If I am not mistaken it was BP that pushed for his release – and then a few months later they have an “accident” in the Gulf – a twofer…

      Bill:

Ultimately the responsibility for this outrageous pardon belongs to Great Britain.

    Robert, don’t be so paranoid.

It’s not like Israel has to worry about rockets fired into border towns next to Gaza.

    Whoops, forget that.

It’s not like muslims have gone on the record as wanting to wipe Israel off the map.

    Sorry.  Scratch that too.

It’s not like state television in Arab countries allow muslim religious leaders to talk about Jews as sub-humans.

Uh-Oh.  Zero for three so far.

It’s not like the president of the United States is an apologist for muslim terrorist states and was a proud member of a Jew hating preacher’s church for 20 years.

Gosh, this is embarrassing.  Another mistake.

But I’m sure the greatest Secretary of State ever and our genius level president would never encourage the Jew hating Muslim Brotherhood to ever get close to power in any country withing spitting distance of Israel. Debbie Wasserman Schulz would never support an administration that does such a thing.

Awwwwwwh man.   Wrong as rain again.

Okay, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get you.  But on the other hand I remember Obama saying he is a strong supporter of Israel.  So you got that going for you.  But if I remember correctly it was right after he mentioned something about going back to the 1967 borders so maybe ….

If I may: you are falling back on inconvenient facts. How very illiberal:-)
