The Silent Exodus: The Ethnic Cleansing of Jews from Arabia

Here’s a preview for Pierre Rehov’s film, The Silent Exodus, which documents the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Arab lands between 1948 and 1968.

You can purchase the DVD here.

Tragically, Pierre will soon, no doubt, be producing another film. But this documentary will be about the ethnic cleansing of Christians from Arab lands.

In 1948 nearly one million Jews lived in Arab lands.  But in barely twenty years, they have become forgotten fugitives, expelled from their native lands, forgotten by history and where the victims themselves have hidden their fate under a cloak of silence.

A people whom legend have always associated with “wandering” many of these Jews from Arab lands had lived there for thousands of years and accepted their fate, through good times and bad times.

But 1948, the beginning of their exodus, also saw the birth of the State of Israel.

And, while the Arab armies were preparing to invade the young refugee-country, the survivors of the Shoah were piling up in rickety boats. Meanwhile a few hundred thousand Arabs from Palestine were getting ready to flee their homes, convinced that they would return as winners and conquerors.

Soon – by a terrible twist of fate they, as well, began to fill up refugee camps and passed on their refugee status to new generations.

The Jews, however, did not receive refugee status.

They had just rediscovered the land of their birthright.

And if they came from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq or from Yemen, if they had lost everything, even their relatives and their cemeteries, they were ready to rebuild their lives in the West and for many – in Israel – and try to forget their past.

Without ever asking for compensation or the right of return, or even wishing that their story be told…

Comment Rules

Seraphic Secret is private property, that's right, it's an extension of our home, and as such, Karen and I have instituted two Seraphic Rules and we ask commentors to act respectfully.

  1. No profanity.
  2. No Israel bashing. We debate, we discuss, we are respectful. You know what Israel bashing is. The world is full of it. Seraphic Secret is one of the few places in the world that will not tolerate this form of anti-Semitism.

That's it. Break either of these rules and you will be banned.

The Christians are already being kicked out of Egypt so they are already experiencing what Jews have gone through for a long time in the ME.  And Christians in Europe act like anti-Semitism is no big deal because they aren’t Jews (they came for the Jews but I wasn’t Jewish so I didn’t care, then they came for ……).

As long as the western world supports the refugee camps as if Israel expelled legitimate natives so they could ‘occupy’ the ‘west bank’, the trend will continue. Funny how Israel having more Arab (and Christian) legislators than the typical ME dictatorship is never mentioned by those that see the country as an occupier.

But when most politicians (including Republicans) just accept that there are Jewish areas and palestinian areas the battle is lost.    People blithely ignore the history of Jews and muslims living side by side throughout the ME and accept the declining number of Jews as natural and not a deliberate act of ethnic cleansing.  Unfortunately, when Christian support for Israel is unwanted by liberals (including Jewish liberals) I don’t see a consensus ever forming over reversing the trend in the ME or Europe.

What a powerful promo, Robert. And it’s very enlightening to hear someone talk about the Jewish refugees who don’t have any “right of return” to their native Arab lands. Alas, this won’t get wide play in the mainstream media as it doesn’t conform to their current agenda.
