…In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and you shall not do any work … For on that day he shall provide atonement for you to cleanse you from all your sins before the L-RD.

—Leviticus 16:29-30

Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, begins tonight after sundown. In observance, we spend the day in prayer and fasting.

Hebrew: G’mar Chatema Tova.
English translation: May you be inscribed in the Book of Life.
I ask forgiveness from those whom I have wronged.
And I forgive those who have wronged me and ask my forgiveness.

Karen and I wish all our friends and relatives a G’mar Chatimah Tova, and a meaningful fast.

Karen prays at the Little Western Wall in Jerusalem.
